1995 Shareware Awards

It's always great to look at older articles, and this one is pretty cool. This is a list of shareware award winners 12 years ago. I've gone ahead and checked to see if the companies are still selling software. I appended it to the list.

The following programs were the winners of the 1995 Shareware Industry Awards.  The awards were presented on June 24, 1995 in a gala event during the 1995 Shareware Industry Conference, in Scottsdale, AZ. Congratulations to ALL the winning programs!!

BEST UTILITY - Integrity Master by Stiller Research

  • Status: Not updated anymore. The home page of http://www.stiller.com is now owned by a squatter.

BEST MAJOR APPLICATION - Telix for Windows by deltaComm

BEST WORD PROCESSING APPLICATION - WordExpress for Windows by MicroVision

  • Status: They are still in business and selling the same product. Of course, they could probably sell their domain name and make a ton of money.

BEST GRAPHICS/MULTIMEDIA UTILITY - SmartDraw by Smartdraw Software

  • Status: They are still in business , and have expanded into many different SmartDraw products.

BEST PAINTING OR DRAWING SOFTWARE - Tek Illustator by TommySoftware

BEST BUSINESS AND FINANCE SOFTWARE - Money Smith by Brad Smith

BEST TECHNICAL SOFTWARE - Fastgraph/Light by Ted Gruber Software

  • Status: They are still in business and have updated their program to work with Windows CE.

BEST EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE - Billy Bear Series by Loraine Wauer

BEST ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE - Soleau Games Collection by William Soleau

BEST ACTION/ARCADE GAME - Rise of the Triad by Apogee Software Ltd.

BEST HOME/HOBBY SOFTWARE - SoundZ by Unicorn Software

  • Status: It appears they are still in business , but haven't updated the software or the site since 2004.
