Joining the Dot Journal Team

Writer's How-To

We're always looking for people to help make Dot Journal the best it can be on-line. If you have an interest in doing reviews, writing articles or authoring an opinion piece, we're the place where you can have your little corner of cyberspace.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
Many people ask, "How does the process work?" It's pretty easy actually. To flesh it out a bit here are the highlights:

1. Send us your information: By using our writer's form you can submit your information, interests and ideas on writing for Dot Journal.

2. Review information: We review your information to make sure that everything is complete and that you're ready to join the team!

3. Join the team: We then welcome you to the writer's group and give you a free car, super vacation and fantastic computer. Ok, so you don't get all that.

WHAT DO I GET?
Naturally most people want to know what they get when they write for Dot Journal. Here's a list of the many benefits we offer our writers:

1. Product Availability: We make all types of products from many different vendors available for you to review. We list the products on our forums and you choose which ones you'd like to review. Within a few days the product is shipped to you.
2. Resume Builder: If you're interested in adding to your resume it never hurts to have a writing credit on there. All our reviews, articles and opinion pieces feature your name and contact information on the byline.
3. Expertise Building: Many people specialize in one area of the technical field. By writing about that field you build your expertise not only in terms of what you know, but in terms of how people perceive you.
4. E-Mail Address: Each of the writers receives a @dotjournal e-mail address for use. This can be used to handle all Dot Journal related items and more.
5. Web Hosting: Each writer receives space that they can use for hosting their site, pictures, etc. You can even use your own domain name.
6. Conference Attendance: There are a multitude of technical conferences that happen each year. You have the ability to attend these conferences as a member of the press. Your summary of the conference will help even more people learn about what is available to them.
7. Coolness: It's pretty cool to do this. Admit it. You know it is pretty cool to be published.

WHAT NOW
The next step is to fill out the writer's form and we'll take it from there. You'll be sent a copy of our writer's guidelines. Don't worry about HTML skills at all. We handle all website production and publishing aspects. All you need to know how to do is format text.

We want to welcome you to the Dot Journal team and wish you continued success in everything you do!
