Zoho office suite review overview

The first major review I'm going to undertake is Zoho office suite. I've been enamored with their products since they started. I'm not sure whether it's their open communication development process, their wide ranging application offerings or the fact they seem to be one step ahead of Google. Whatever it is I've been dying to dig into their applications in detail.

I don't know much about the history of Zoho, so I'm planning to try to snag an email interview when I am finished reviewing their application. It's fascinating to me that a company can be nimble enough to meet consumer's demands, while at the same time focusing on quality development.

The reviews will be from an end user perspective only. I can only hazard a guess or two about their back end, programming environment or q&a process. Those things don't interest me. What interests me is the ability to maintain productivity in a web only environment.

The first step is to review their offerings in the order I'll review them. As the reviews progress I will update this page with the relevent links:

Zoho Writer: This is the word processing entry and if there is anything I know about it's words. My interest is in seeing if Zoho Writer can really move me off of Microsoft Word.

Zoho Planner: I'm in need of better tracking software, as my job responsibilities have increased.

Zoho Notebook: Google Notebook replacement. Fingers crossed.

Zoho Sheet: I'm happy with Excel, but I cannot help but be lured by the ability to work with my numbers online.

Zoho Projects: Ugh, project management software always causes concern. It's either overblown or too simple.

Zoho Show: Anything to help me break my Powerpoint additiciton would help.

Zoho CRM: This is prorbably going to be the most foreign to me. I haven't used a CRM since ACT, so it'll be interesting to see this implementation.

Zoho Chat: Very intriguing embeddable chat application.

Zoho Meeting: This is a very exciting idea to allow mutiple client types to attach and test.

Zoho Wiki: We're hot and heavy into the wiki usage right now, so I cannot wait to see how it's implemented in a Web 2.0 way.

Zoho Creator and Zoho DB & Reports: I am not quite sure what the difference is in these applications, but I do know I like my database front ends. I still maintain that Alpha 3 was one of nature's perfect DOS software products.
